Main Street creates a way for the community to give back during holiday season.
Inaugural "Festival of Wreaths" raises money for nonprofits during the holiday season.
Main Street Murfreesboro created the inaugural "Festival of Wreaths" as a way for the community to participate downtown and give back to their favorite charities during the holidays. Nineteen wreaths were created and donated for an online auction that was open for one week leading up the annual Christmas tree lighting event downtown. Wreaths were hung for display in the windows of a downtown building on the corner of E. Main Street and College Street. When bidding closed the total funds raised through the auction totaled $1,975. Each wreath was paired with the nonprofit of the designer's choice. Main Street Murfreesboro sent funds raised through the auction for each wreath to the nonprofit nominated.
The following nonprofits received funds: The Center for the Arts, Journeys in Community Living, Special Kids Therapy & Nursing Center, United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties, Greenhouse Ministries, Liberty's Station, Friends of Linebaugh Library, Community Helpers of Rutherford County, ScarsUncovered, Beesley Animal Foundation, Amelia's Closet, Stepping Stones Safe Haven, DreamCatchers Therapy Services, Main Street Murfreesboro, Doors of Hope, Murfreesboro Little Theatre, Isaiah 117 House, Rutherford County Cat Rescue, and St. Mark's Disaster Relief Team.
Many thanks to the businesses, civic groups and individuals who creatively made an original wreath and donated it for the Festival of Wreaths!
