A Farmer's Market=Fun + Food

Did you know there are more than 8,700 Farmers' Markets across the United States? With this explosion of markets, researchers are looking into why people shop at local markets. The takeaway--most people who come to a farmers' market want fresh, healthy food, they like the idea of supporting local farmers, AND they believe that going to a farmer's market is FUN. That echoes what we are hearing from our regular market customers and from first-time visitors. The Saturday Market is a happy place where you can get fresh food, locally raised meats, a variety of baked goods, and unique products handmade/crafted by local artisans, herbalists, and entrepreneurs. This week special participants add to the fun. Visit the Rutherford County Master Gardeners to learn about gardening in Middle Tennessee, buy select iris rhizomes from the Mid-State Iris Association, watch our talented balloon artist, listen to violinist Lilly Schmidt, and watch traditional dance performances by Danza Azteca Quetzali. Oh, and for more fun don't forget the popsicles, ice cream, gelato, and cookies!

Two More Weeks Remaining

Only two weeks remaining for the June Loyalty Card drawing. It's too late to start a June card, but bring your card in to get it stamped. No purchase is required. Just visit the market and get your card punched for this week's date. Market vendors donate gift cards and merchandise for the six monthly drawings, with the value of each month's drawing ranging from $60-$80 (or more). It's our way of saying thank you to our market customers.

TN Farmers Market Trail Drawing

Did you know that just by stopping at the Murfreesboro Saturday Market you can enter to win a $200 gift card in July from the TN Farmers Market Association? We are one of five Tennessee farmers markets on the new Tennessee Farmers Market Trail, that launched in May. The trail highlights five Middle Tennessee farmers' markets, each offering its own mix of fresh produce, handmade goods, and community charm. Visit a market, scan the QR code, and collect a one-of-a-kind sticker as you go. Every QR code check-in at the market gives you an entry in the drawing for the farmers market gift card. Check the poster at our information tent and the MTSU Football tent to scan the QR code and enter for the July gift card drawing. MTSU Milk Truck is Back

If you love the MTSU milk, coming direct from the creamery, then you're in luck this week. They will be back with plenty of milk for thirsty customers.

Aztec Dance Group Performs Saturday

Downtown Murfreesboro is at its best when it brings people together, and we're excited to welcome a special cultural experience to the Murfreesboro Saturday Market on Saturday, June 20. Join us at 10 am and 11am for a free performance by Danza Azteca Quetzalli ("Beautiful Feather"), an Aztec dance group based in Middle Tennessee.

The performance will take place on the grassy lot across from the Rutherford County Courthouse, at the corner of East Main Street and Church Street, and is free and open to the public.
