On September 13, 2025, The Travis Manion Foundation will be hosting its annual 9/11 Heroes Run. The event is held to pay tribute to and remember those who responded to the Twin Towers, Pentagon, and Pennsylvania the morning of 9/11/2001. Those men and women woke up, went to work, and later that day, found themselves on the front line of a war that none of us knew was coming. And our military would soon deploy, fighting two wars, and changing countless lives. Travis Manion lost his life in Iraq as part of the response to the war on Terrorism. He later received a silver star for his actions when he pulled two of his Marines to safety while taking enemy sniper fire. Travis was fatally wounded. As part of our opening ceremony, we pay tribute to the response at the twin towers and wars that followed with a bagpipe led procession from N Maple to Civic plaza featuring a color guard from the fire department, police department, EMS, and military. This year, our Guest of Honor is General Keith Huber. The Guest Speaker will be Senator Shane Reeves.
In addition to the race, we view this as a perfect morning to celebrate so many of the great things about Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee. We encourage our runners, guests, and families to visit the farmers market after the race, to enjoy a post race meal at one of the restaurants on the square, and hang around to discover the incredible shops. Thank you for helping make this such a special day for our runners and for our community!
