WGNS

WGNS began in the historic downtown district at 10:45PM, Dec. 31, 1946 and "rang-in the New Year of 1947".  Since those beginnings over 78-years ago, the G N S in our call letters has stood for GOOD NEIGHBOR STATION.  

Three of the total of four WGNS' owners over those 78-years have been "family businesses". Although it was not planned, our family has kept the "local" and "Good Neighbor" feeling alive the longest. It's a little frightening when you look at the numbers, when you add the number of years for all 3 of the others, they total 37-years (1947-1984). We proudly have called WGNS our home from 1984 to now, and that's 41-years. There really is a lot of truth in the old saying "time flies when you're having fun".
