Bring your creativity to life and help transform downtown into a fun fall destination. We can't wait to see your Scarecrow on the Square! 🍂

Everyone is invited to participate in making a scarecrow for downtown this Fall.

Calling all artists, families, businesses, churches, civic groups, and community organizations you’re invited to take part in the annual “Scarecrows Downtown” contest!

Show off your creativity by designing and displaying a handmade Scarecrow on the historic downtown Murfreesboro square. Whether whimsical, mischievous, traditional, or just downright lovable, your Scarecrow will help bring festive fall spirit to the community!

Important Dates for participating:

• Register by: Friday, September 18 (No cost to participate!)
• Set up: Between October 1 and October 4 (Location on the square assigned to you)
• Tear down: Between November 1 – 4 (All Scarecrows must be removed by November 4)

Let your imagination shine! All entries must be family-friendly and in good taste. Please avoid anything frightening, political, or controversial. Think fun and festive—not scary!

Construction Rules

• All entries must be handmade and able to withstand the weather.
• No commercial costumes or rubber masks.
• Minimum height: 4 ft | Maximum height: 6 ft
• Use whole, uncarved produce only (if applicable).
• Secure all materials—you’re responsible for maintenance during the display period.

🏆 Prizes & Voting

Individuals can vote for their favorite Scarecrow through the QR code to enter to win a $25 gift card from downtown!

• People’s Choice Award: Winner receives $100
• Judge’s Choice Awards:
   • 1st Place: $100
   • 2nd Place: $50
   • 3rd Place: $25 Gift Card
  Winners announced on October 30 via email and social media.
