Historic Downtown Business District will be the project area for a potential $300,000 grant with the state.

Main Street Murfreesboro is applying for a Downtown Improvement Grant.  The 30-block radius of the historic downtown business district will serve as the focus for the potential project area.  Funding from the state grant may be used for approved activities to facades of commercial buildings within the project area.  A portion of the grant funding may also be used for needed downtown improvements deemed appropriate by the Main Street Design Committee.

This highly competitive grant is available to Tennessee Main Street and Tennessee Downtown Communities with a maximum funding of $300,000 per community.

Main Street Murfreesboro's application will be submitted at the end of August and evaluated based on project need, impact, plan, and feasibility along with community support.  The grant funding is provided through the State of Tennessee's Department of Economic and Community Development.

If Main Street Murfreesboro is awarded this funding it will go to assist property owners in their desire to reinvest in the community while preserving the historic structures and providing job creation in a retail and commercial environment.

Downtown Main Street Murfreesboro property owners and business owners who are interested in learning more about this grant including letters of intent for their projects, timeline, match, etc. are encouraged to contact Sarah Callender, Main Street Murfreesboro's Executive Director, at the Main Street office 615-895-1887 by August 12.  An information meeting will be held on August 12 for all interested parties.  You must contact Sarah Callender before the meeting to discuss your proposed project, need, and commitment to completing the project in the timeframe required by the state.
