With all the unsettling news about food recalls, the Saturday Market is proud to offer healthy, safe food options for our customers. We know the current demand for fresh produce is high. All our lettuce and fresh greens were sold out by 9 a.m. last week. Come early if you want to buy lettuce! Remember that our farmers can only grow so much each week. Last week eggs and many cuts of meats were also sold out early. Shop with us knowing we bring you clean and healthy food. Just to remind you, here are some additional tips for handling your market purchases safely.

Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water before eating, cutting or cooking. Wash produce even if you plan to peel it before eating. Bacteria present on the outside of foods like melons can be transferred to the inside when you cut or peel them. Be sure to refrigerate cut or peeled fruits and vegetables within two hours. If you purchase meat or products that need refrigeration, bring a small ice chest or make those your last purchases before leaving the market. This is especially important on days when the temperature is in the upper 90s. 

There are THREE more weeks in August for you to get your loyalty cards punched. No purchase is required. Just bring your August card, visit the market, and have your card punched for each week you come to the market. Three visits and you are entered in the monthly drawing for $70-$80 in gift cards from our vendors. It's our way of saying thank you to our market customers. You can have a personal shopping spree at the market with your envelope of gift cards if you are the winner at the end of the month.
