A Farmer's Market Brings Fresh Food to You

A customer said last week that he had never before experienced the smell of fresh pulled onions. Granted, he was standing next to a table loaded with onions, but the point was well taken. We miss out on all the sensory images of fresh food when we only see it in cellophane-wrapped containers at the grocery store. Now is the time to look, smell, and taste the fresh foods that only a farmer's market can offer. Our farm vendors pick, pack, and load fresh fruit and produce every week to bring to the Saturday Market. This is what food is supposed to be about. Try the strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and peaches this week. Don't forget the onions, garlic, lettuces, and assorted fresh greens. Oh, and did we mention the summer vegetables like zucchini and squash that are showing up? We offer a bounty of fresh food. You just have to try it.

We Have Four Saturdays In June

You still have time to get in three visits for the June Loyalty Card drawing. Customers started picking them up last week, but we have hundreds more cards waiting for you. No purchase is required. Just visit the market and get your card stamped. Market vendors donate gift cards and merchandise for the six monthly drawings, with the value of each month's drawing ranging from $60-$80 (or more). It's our way of saying thank you to our market customers.

Players and staff with the Blue Raiders Football program will be at the market this Saturday to meet market customers. Help us support these college athletes by stopping by their tents to say hello and welcome them to Murfreesboro. They are on the market map--and you can't miss them.
