Chalk Art Contest in Historic Downtown Murfreesboro
The third annual chalk art contest in historic downtown Murfreesboro will be held on Friday, September 13.
Do you like to draw...with chalk? Whether you are an amateur and love drawing pictures on your driveway or a professional artist who prefers complex designs using chalk on sidewalks we want you!
Four competing categories will be available for sign-ups in the downtown chalk contest on Friday, September 13 with Main Street Murfreesboro's Downtown After Five and the Boro Art Crawl. The shopping and art crawl events will be from 5-8 pm in the historic downtown.

What are the rules?
What does it look like to participate in a chalk art contest?
After you register, you will be contacted by Main Street Murfreesboro.
Check-in starts at 1:00 PM unless you are a professional artist and request to check in earlier.
Pre-determined spaces will be assigned to artists as they arrive.
Artists have from 1:00-4:00 PM to work on their masterpieces around the public square. All drawings will be done on the sidewalks in front of businesses. Please bring a chair, blanket, water, and umbrella to block the sun. Please be conscious of people walking past you during the day. Do not block the entire sidewalk. You will have friendly bathrooms in assigned restaurants to use near your location.
If participating in the Youth (6-13 age group) you will need to be accompanied by an adult the entire time.
When you are finished, you will text a picture of your work to the organizer with your name. This information will be given to you at check-in.
Judging begins at 5:15 PM. Judges are volunteers in the art community and will use a rubric to score each category.
Judges will have scores submitted by 6:15 PM. Awards will be announced at 6:30 PM from the check-in tent at the grass lot on the corner of Main and Church Street on the public square across from the Rutherford County Courthouse.
First-place winners for each category will be selected. Gift cards will be awarded to winners.
This is a free community event to promote the arts in partnership with Main Street Murfreesboro's Downtown After Five event and the Boro Art Crawl.
