Thankful for Main Street Board volunteer Tab Talbott and his years of service downtown.

Tab Talbott served on the Main Street board from 2014-2022.

From intern to Board Chair.

Tab started volunteering with Main Street Murfreesboro in 2012 as an intern.  At that time, he worked for a non-profit called Cumberland Region Tomorrow, which is a Smart Growth advocacy organization in the 10-county middle Tennessee region, based in Nashville.  Tab was a recent graduate with a master's in city and Regional Planning from the University of Memphis.

After two years of this work and commuting to Nashville, Tab started working for Glenn Macbeth at Gateway Title in 2013 as Business Development Director.  He officially joined the Main Street board that year and started law school in 2014.

After graduating law school in 2018, Tab became staff attorney at Gateway until 2021 when he started his own firm with a focus on estate and business planning.

Fun fact about Tab, before graduate school he toured for two years with Jimmy Buffett as a brand manager for the Margaritaville brands.  Another fun fact...Tab is an Uncle Dave Macon Fellow from 2004 (banjo).

Love the downtown?

"If you have a passion for supporting and loving the heart of Murfreesboro there is no better way than to volunteer with the Main Street organization," Tab shares.

Preserve and enhance our downtown.

"We have so many people that understand how important it is to preserve and enhance our downtown and that makes me proud." Tab's background in planning has helped him as a volunteer guide Main Street's board and the Economic Vitality committee. He chaired the board in 2021 and the Economic Vitality committee for a few years of his service on the board. His experience helped Main Street to look at the big picture of the historic downtown and see what needs the Main Street organization could focus its attention. Main Street Murfreesboro is a grassroots nonprofit led by community volunteers and staff to spearhead downtown revitalization efforts and support the many small business owners located in the historic downtown business district.

Downtown events create a sense of community.

What Tab has learned through volunteering with Main Street's board is "the true sense of community the events create. It reminds you that while we are a large community, we still have heart and that heart is alive and well in our historic downtown."
